Wowsers- what a busy week.

On top of trainings, meetings and sports practices this week I was able to squeeze in a mommy's night out!  My friend Erin and I painted pottery at Kil'n Time in Ames, then ate at Fuji for supper!  It was a very nice relaxing evening.

Which led into Friday's craziness of meetings, cleaning and running to Des Moines to pick up family pictures and race registration.

Then Saturday- Living History Farms run!  We left the house about 7am.  I raced with my sister-in-law Kelly.  We ran some, then when we would get to hills or wooded areas we would walk.  It was a pretty brutal race!  There were 6 creek crossings with freezing cold water then you had to climb up a steep muddy hill to get out of the creeks!  It was a lot of fun!  My time was 2 hr and 20 minutes.  Chris was able to run the whole thing!!  His time was 1 hr 31 minutes!  Awesome!!

After the race we had Carter's 2nd birthday party!  It was a pretty good turn out.  I was exhausted though!  Carter did an awesome job opening his presents and thanking everyone.  He had a slight Elmo theme.  We ended up just sending a facebook invite to everyone, but the cake was Elmo and so were the Thank you notes.  (thanks, mom!)  Carter got a lot of cute gifts that him and Caleb fought over all night!

Then, Sunday was a day of rest.  :0)

Poop!!!

I know, the title says it all.  I am a mom!  haha!

Carter pooped in the POTTY!!!  Woot!!

I got home Monday night from work and read his daycare sheet and it said "Carter said he was poopy, but there was nothing in his diaper, so I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty and he said yes.  A few minutes later I came back to find poop in the potty!"

That is so awesome!!  What a BIG boy!

I spoke to the daycare worker yesterday and she told me that he wanted to sit on the potty and she was going to sit in there with him, but he kept telling her to get out!  haha!  Then another little boy kept wandering in the bathroom to see what was going on and he would tell him to get out, too!!  haha!  He is such a crack-up!!

Potty training will be underway shortly!  Not sure when I am actually going to start "pushing" it, he seems ready since he is telling us, I will talk to the doctor about it at his 2 year check up.

yay!

Toy Story 3

We took Caleb and Carter to Toy Story 3 at the dollar theatre tonight.   It was fun.  We hadn't seen the movie yet.  I really wanted the first time we saw it to be at the theatre.  Thankfully it was still at the dollar theatre.  Carter sat pretty well through it.  He sat on his own for awhile, but moved to daddy's lap, then my lap for the rest of the movie.  Caleb was pretty excited to see it.  Made for a nice cheap night of fun!  :0)

Wrestling

Well, I signed Caleb up for Wrestling tonight.  I am not sure quite yet about it.  It was pretty intimidating tonight.  We walked into a dodgeball match- not quite Caleb's cup of tea with that many people...  He was very nervous and wouldn't leave us for very long.  His friend Beau was there and he kept trying to talk Caleb into joining the fun, but Caleb was into watching...

Towards the end he started to warm up so I think we will try to go one more night, then make our decision.  This is ALL very new to all of us and I can completely understand Caleb's nervousness, but I am not going to shell out the money if he isn't going to do it.  We'll see.  Basketball is supposed to start Monday, too.  So, we will be pretty busy with that adn wrestling on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Carter was loving it tonight though!  His favorite daycare worker was there helping out and he was imitating the big kids out on the mats!

Family Pictures!

We have family pictures this morning!  I am so excited!  I can't wait to cover up the past with new ones!!

BUSY week.

We had Caleb's 1st parent/teacher conference for preschool last night.  It was very informative.  I definitely feel more confident in my decision to send him to Kindergarten next year.  In all the "learning" areas he was rating between his age and Kindergarten level, so that was nice to learn.  His social/emotional areas are a little lower, but still at age level.

I knew he was smart, but he really needs to learn how to control his actions and follow directions better.  The teachers told me last night that the whole class is VERY active.  All the boys are ALL boy with lots of energy and the girls are even quite energetic and drama queens.  I mentioned that we may need to recommend him being put with a nice low energy quiet set of boys when he is put into Kindergarten!  haha!  Hopefully that will help!  :0)

Otherwise, I think we are raising a pretty good kid.  We just have to remember this when he is pushing our buttons!!

That was last night's busy-ness.  Tonight is fairly normal.  Tomorrow night we have our local cable provider coming over to take family pictures of us for the yearly Christmas brochure...  not sure why we were chosen... Then Thursday morning we are off to Des Moines for professional family pictures.  I think this weekend is the first weekend we don't have anything going on!!!  Very excited for that!  I think we will be getting some major cleaning accomplished and party preparations for the next weekend's 2nd birthday party!

Next week will be another very crazy week.  But, more about that later.

Copy Cat

"Let’s play copy cat just for fun. We’ll copy Caleb he's the one.

Whatever he says, we’ll do the same, ‘cause that’s how we play the copy cat game."
* * *

Carter is the ultimate copycat lately!!  Everything Caleb does or says Carter is right their copying him.  It would be okay if Caleb did what he was supposed to do.  But, let's face it... yeah.

Most of the time it is pretty funny, but he has started the actions of a "two-year old".  'No' has to be his favorite word, but he says it with such attitude I never know whether to scold him or laugh.  Tonight I told him it was time to go to bed and he said NO!  but ended up walking over to Chris and telling him ni-night.

He is a pretty funny ornery kiddo.  That is for sure!  But a copycat indeed!

Sick kiddo

Caleb woke up coughing in the middle of the night last night and ended up throwing up.  I figured he threw up because of the coughing.  Often times, that is why I threw up when I was little.  But, this morning I got a phone call from daycare saying he threw up again.  ugh.  So Carter and I went to pick him up.  Unfortunately Chris wasn't able to get off work early and I had to go to work to at least get the kids checked in, so Carter went to daycare for lunch and a nap and Caleb joined me at work for an hour.

This child is unable to act sick when he is.  Which is frustrating.  How nice would it be to have a child who lays there and acts sick when he is home because he is sick!?  Instead Caleb runs around saying he is better asking when he can go back to daycare.  So this afternoon after rest-time we picked up Carter and went on a nice long walk/bike ride.  Then we went to the park and played outside.  Who knew that a sick kid could do so much?!  haha!
