Fellow Blogger

One of the blogs I follow daily is lunchboxproject.blogspot.com  It is a local artist (a parent of one of my kids) who paints food items on playing cards.  She has a new post everyday and with 3 children, I don't know how she accomplishes everything she does.  But, she had a contest the other day and if you follow her on Facebook, sign up for her newsletter and comment on her blog, then you could win a print!  I won!!!  I got my print last Tuesday.  I still need to find a frame for it.

It was really difficult to pick a print I wanted there were so many!  And without a theme chosen for my kitchen yet I decided to pick one that is more wintery so I could pull it out each Christmas.  Click here to see the print I chose!

Don't forget to check out everything else she has created!

Blizzard and the rest of the week.

We had a blizzard last week!  I mean a literal blizzard!  Tuesday afternoon the kids got out of school early, then there was no school on Wednesday and Thursday.  Wednesday morning Caleb was invited over to Nolan's house, so Chris took him over there.  He had to pull him in the sled becuase the snow was so deep.  When Chris used the snowblower to move the snow there were parts that were up to my hip!  Very deep!  Chris always enjoys snow days when he can get outside and snow blow everyone's driveway.  We are the only house on the block that has our own blower, so Chris does about 3-4 driveways everytime.  Keeps him busy at least.  We hosted the pay date with Nolan Wednesday afternoon.  Then Thursday Chris had to drive me to my holiday party in Ames.  When we were pulling into the driveway Isaac's mom called to see if Caleb wanted to go over there.  So we drove over and dropped him off.  On Friday then I had another holiday party for work, but this one was a little more intimate and was just for our branch.  Saturday we went to Des Moines in the morning and got our Family pictures taken.  It was a little easier this time, especially when Carter was sitting with us.  But, when we tried to get Carter's 1 year pictures taken he wouldn't stand there!  Stinker.

Hawaii

Chris leaves for Hawaii on January 4th.  He will be gone until January 22nd.  3 whole weeks!  brat.  I don't know what we will do while he is gone, probably just our normal routine as much as possible. I have scheduled our 3rd girls night here for one of the nights he is gone.  That will be a nice break for him with no kids for 3 weeks.  I think I am going to have a slumber party theme and the girls will wear their jammies and we will do manicure/pedicure type things.  It should be fun.

Carter updates

Carter is officially walking all over the place.  He has been walking for quite sometime, but he just looks much more stable lately.

Carter says "hi" and waves.
He does Patty-Cake- when you sing the song he will clap and "roll" his arms.
We try to make him say mama and dada.  He will sometimes.  One day he yelled Da and waved at Chris.  Too cute!  He has become quite the dare devil climbing on everything.  He is also quite ornery.  Caleb got him giggling pretty good the other day when they were playing.  Caleb has started to play nicely with him, but still squeezes his hand, pushes him down or trips him.  We are waiting for the day when Carter is bigger than Caleb and pummles him.  We will see!  Right now it is hard enough holding back the giggles when he clocks him over the head with a block!  :)

We had Carter's doctor appointment December 1st.  He weigh 22 lbs 6 oz.  and was 27" long (if I remember right).  He was doing great!  He had an ear infection so we got ammoxicillin (sp).  He also had 6 shots and blood work that day.  Wow.

This past week Carter started getting up every hour in the middle of the night.  We knew something was wrong either teething or ear infection.  So, I took him to the doctor Friday afternoon.  He had his ear infection still so we got some Augmentin.  Carter is also very slowly cutting teeth.  He has a fourth one on the bottom and has finally cut a top tooth.  It looks like there are 3 teeth on the top that will break through any minute!  Poor baby.  But, since Saturday night he has been sleeping through the night again!

Pictures

We got the boys' pictures taken with their cousin last week.  They are 3.5, 2 and 1 year old.  It was quite the process.  Poor Caleb had to sit there waiting for either Alex or Carter to quit crying and sit.  By the time one would get settled the next would cry, then finally when the 2 little ones were ready that is when Caleb had gotten fed up with sitting in the same position, so he moves!  Ugh.  It was a long stressfull day.

But, there were some cute pictures.

This is one of the collages my mom ordered.

She attempted for them to lay on their tummies first.  That didn't happen!

So disconnected.  But, everyone is looking at the camera at least.

My children look like deer caught in headlights.

Much better by themselves!  How handsome!

Super cutie!

hee hee!

Another good one!

Alex- see the individuals were MUCH better.

Thanksgiving

The week after the party was a short one for work because of Thanksgiving.  Wednesday before Thanksgiving my Grandfather (Caleb and Carter's Oji) passed away.  He had a heart-attack and it was VERY sudden.

Despite the horrible start to our "holiday" we ended up following through with our plans.  We had Thanksgiving dinner on Thurdsay in Marshalltown with Chris' sister.  Then Friday we did some shopping- we didn't go out too early for Black Friday about 8:00am, but it was still super busy.  We got what we wanted and got out of there.  We ended up going back home Friday afternoon and stayed until Sunday.  My Uncle Norio and his wife Kathy came home from California and we had Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday with them and Oba.

Carter's birthday was Saturday and mom made a cake for him, but birthday cake and Thanksgiving are a tough fit, you know with all the other food to indulge in!

That's about it for Thanksgiving.

The week after Thanksgiving was pretty normal and busy.  We had Grandpa's memorial service that Saturday morning.  Grandpa was cremated (sp), but was still buried.  Since he was in the Navy he had a tradidtional service at the cemetary.  I warned Caleb that they would shoot guns and he was really worried about the noise- I promised several times that I would let him know when they were going to shoot, but he still had his ears covered the entire time!  Both Caleb and Carter did well during the funeral, as to be expected from a 3 and 1 year old.

The last few nights Caleb has been looking at pictures of Oji.  He pulls them out and tells me each of the people in the pictures.  One of the pictures are from when Caleb is the exact age as Carter and he always thinks it is Carter.

November 21st

Well, I know that I haven't blogged lately.  Lots of things have been going on and life just got too busy.  Now that it has slowed down I am almost overwhelmed with all of the things I need to blog about I don't want to start.  But, here I go!

On November 21st we had Carter's 1st Birthday party!  It went really well.  Friday night Jason and Mindy came over and we hung out.  Then Saturday morning Chris and Jason went to run in the Living History Farms race.  Crazy fools!

We had the party at the Ballard Country Club which was nice, I didn't have to worry about cleaning my house or cooking food since we couldn't bring in outside food or drink!  darn it  :)

Carter was pretty funny with his cake.  He took a chunk of frosting and put it in his mouth- his tongue instantly stuck out to scrape it off his tongue!  He kind of poked into the cake, but didn't really eat much.  He did well opening his presents.  He had lots of helpers from his cousins!  After opening each of the presents we set them behind me and Caleb was sitting there playing with all of them as they got to him!  Quality control, I guess!

Since I wasn't sure how boring an empty room would be for all of the kids I planned some games- we had the flour kiss game where the kids had to "bob" for kisses in a pan of flour, cotton ball pass where the kids are blind-folded and they have to scoop the cotton balls from one bowl to the other.  Sucking Smarties- they used a straw and sucked the smarties to the end and had to run across the room.  Balloon pop- they tied balloons to their ankles and tried to pop the other kids' balloons.  Then Oreo stacking game- where they had to build the tallest cookie tower.  I also brought Play-Doh and lots of Legos!  They all had a good time and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and be comfortable.

Attendees:
Grandma and Pop
Oba and Oji
Sharon and Jerry
Monica, Russell, Jackie
Karen, and kids
Kelly and kids
Jeff, Karen and Kids
Jason, Mindy and kids
Dan, Janel and kids
Maxine Burton
I think that is everyone...  More to come later!

Monsters

When I was putting Caleb to bed tonight he mentioned that there was a monster in my room.  So I asked him what its' name was.  He asked the monster "what your name?"  -- He not Nice.  Okay, so what is his name?  - Daddy.  Oh... What does he look like?  He nice, he not mean.  That's good.  He is a nice monster, what does he look like?  Robot.

Oh my.

Funnies

I had to outline my ideas before I wrote or I knew I would forget to write about something.  That is the reason behind my subtitles.

Monsters
For the past coupld weeks Caleb has been really nervous about monsters.  If he starts to go into a dark room he freaks out.  When we get home at night and it is dark he makes me shut the garage door before he will get out of the van.  Last night I was talking to him in the kitchen and he looks down the hall into his room- make the observation that his room is dark then says there is a monster.  I asked him what his monster's name was... he said "I dunno".  I asked him what his monster looked like- "like incredibles with no shirt".  (No clue where that came from!)  So I asked him if his monster was nice or mean, have you talked to him?  No...  He turns his head to lok toward his room- "You nice, OK."  "He not nice".   HAHAHAHA!  What an imagination.  I asked his tonight if the outside monster was the same as the one in his room and he said it wasn't.  Hmmmm?!?!?

Outdated
I was chatting with my assistant on Tuesday when she told me that she is working on her Social Studies week long project and needed a topic.  I told her that I did one in college and I could let her look at it since the projects seemed really similar.  I then got to thinking...  Where is this project stored?  Oh yeah, on a 3 1/2" floppy disk!!!  So, um, nope not gonna be able to share that after all!  Wow do I feel old!  All of the seniors I know (High school that is and it is like 3) are getting their Senior Pictures in...  One of the boys asked me if I wanted one so as I was looking through my options I mentioned, Oooo, I want you to write on mine, I can't take it right now... His mom says- they don't do that anymore.  What!?!?!? Seniors do not write on their pictures anymore to personalize it to the person they are giving it to!  We used to write a novel on the back of each picture we would give out!  Again, feeling very dated!

Milk
We ran out of formula this week!  Which means Carter is a cows milk baby!  Yay! No more formula!  Now for potty training!  Ha!

Party
Carter's 1st birthday party is this Saturday!  Wow did time fly by!  I can't beleive it was a year ago that I was pregnant with this child!  he has grown up so much...  he loves driving cars on the floor and hitting his brother on the head!  He is walking pretty well now- still a little wobbly, but getting more confident everyday.  He has a great sense of humor already- Which leads me to my next Subtitle.
milk cup
Carter was drinking his milk tonight at supper and to be silly he put it on his shoulder and behind his back when he was done.  He was pretty proud of himself when he got a laugh out of both Mommy and Caleb!

Up- ow
We have borrowed the movie Up from my parents this week.  We have officially watched it at least once a day since Sunday.  Caleb loves to repeat lines from the movie.  He really likes when the little boy says "Ow."  When his foot is shut in the door.  I asked him why the little boys was saying Ow, to see what he recollected from the scene and he went into great detail pretending to read a book and saying "I Russell, Ow."  Haha!

poor baby
Carter was playing in the kitchen after supper tonight and he tripped over my feet and fell hitting his head on the drawer.  He was crying and Caleb asked what happened.  After I told him Caleb replied "Poor Baby, it's okay".

Unfortunatley I know I am forgetting a funny.  I remember leaving Caleb's room saying I need to do some blogging!  and now I cannot seem to remember that funny.  =(  Tomorrow is a pretty busy day.  I have Parents As Teachers (Miss Shannon) coming at 9:00, then my supervisor/co-worker is coming over to work on a presentation about lunch time, then it is off to work then to my Make Parenting a Pleasure class after work.  -*   <---  That is Carter's contribution to my blog post! Anyway, busy day tomorrow.  But at least Chris is FINALLY done with harvest tomorrow!!!!!!!  YAY!  No more being a single mother!  Well, until January when the stink-butt goes to Hawaii, hopefully this time it is only a couple weeks rather than a month like 2 years ago!

Well, better get the kids to bed... long day tomorrow!

Mommy gets a Girl's Night!

Yes, it is true.  I am officially going out.  No husband.  No kids.  Just me and the girls!  Wow!  I don't know when that has ever happened!

I took the kids to my parents house tonight to stay the weekend.  I have an all-day training tomorrow, then out with the girls.  We will pick up the kids Sunday morning.  It will be a fun weekend for Grandma and Pop!  Haha!  :)

My presentation went well today.  Who knows how the "potential funders" viewed my presentation, but I felt it went well since I got through it with a pretty steady voice and remembered all the points I wanted to make.  I guess for right now that is all that matters.  We will soon learn the fate of the Coordinator position soon.  Hopefully someone who already works there will get it.  I think it would be akward trying to accept an "outsider".  I hope to hear soon!

:)

Carter learned to clap and kiss this week!  He was sitting on Caleb's bed and I leaned over to him and asked him for a kiss and he leaned over and gave me baby open mouth kisses on my cheek...  :)  How sweet.  Then when we were at Wal Mart this week he started clapping when he was sitting in the cart.  He is getting to be such a big boy!  I can't believe in 2 weeks he will be 1 year old!!!!  Where did the time go?

The Weekend

This weekend went pretty fast! Friday night Chris was still on the road, but I got off work early since we had a no school day. I picked up the kids and since it was sooo nice out we played outside until it was super dark (it was only 6:30, unfortunately). The neighbors came over to play which wore the kids out. Caleb and Nolan played "football" which consisted of them running around and tackling each other. When we got inside I fed the kids and put them to bed! Aaaaah, relax. I hopped on the computer to check my email and found an email from my bosses boss. It said: Thank you for taking the opportunity to interview for the Coordinator position. We have narrowed our search to 4 professionals.... this is where I started to trail away from reading as I figured it was a thanks, but no thanks letter. I started reading it again after checking my other email and realized it said... ...and as one of them you will need to..... Write a 500 word paper... and present an idea that you would want to implement within the next 6 months.... to a panel of potential funders! AAAH! So much for a relaxing night! My stomach was in knots! I am starting to feel a little more comfortable now that I have my paper written and I am comfortable with my ideas I want to present.

Saturday we hung out at the house most of the day. I let Caleb go outside by himself a couple times. We had the windows open so I could easily yell out for him or hear him playing the entire time. We ran to Ames to shop for a new outfit for me. Played at the Mall for a little while then were on our way to Ankeny when the Dammen family called to see if we wanted to meet in Ankeny for supper! Good timing! We ate at Okoboji Grill where the kids were creating a ruckus. They were so funny, giggling and being silly. Caleb was very well behaved, as far as I was concerned. He stayed in his seat and ate all of his food. He was better behaved while being silly with Emma than when he is alone with us. It was kind of refreshing! After we ate we didn't really want to part ways yet, since the kids don't get to play very often so we went to McDonald's to play at their play place. It was Grimy, but fun! Caleb and Emma barely even looked at us and the Carter's were having a blast running around. Carter was actually walking quite a bit there! I think he does better when he is walking in his shoes, plus it helps that there wasn't thick carpet, blankets or toys in his way. When we left there we got groceries, then headed home.

Sunday we hung around the house again. Cleaned, did laundry and worked on my presentation a ton. Caleb got to play outside a lot and Carter took a GREAT nap! We went for a family walk around town late afternoon. Got home when it was super dark again- I hate how dark it gets sooo early. :( Not fun. Makes for short nights.

Today, I took the kids to Ames with me to run errands for work. I went to work and then came home to a 3 year old who needed a nap and didn't get one! Wow was he sensitive and naughty. I sent him to bed early. Tomorrow I will be going to another training. I will be attending different sessions of this training once a month until May. Wednesday will actually be pretty normal, then Thursday I have my parenting class that evening and Friday is P-Day (presentation) hehe. I took Friday afternoon off so I can bring the kids to my parents house so they can babysit on Saturday when I have another training. Busy, Busy.

Well, I need to get to bed. Long day ahead!

I remembered

So we were in Wal-Mart today and Caleb started singing "The Button Factory" song.  You know, Hello, My name is Joe- I gotta wife, 3 kids and I work in a button factory.  One day, my boss said to me, "Are you busy?" I said no....

This is Caleb's rendition.

Hi, I Joe.  I gotta wipe and a kid and I work.  One day "are you working?"  Nope.

Hehe!  Made me laugh so I wanted to get it written before I forgot!  :O)

Thursday, November 5, 2009

There were several things Caleb said or did this week that made me laugh, but unfortunately I can't remember a lot of them.  :(  I should jump on here whenever I hear something, but I am always so sure that I wouldn't forget it, it's too funny!

Well, to start... We got new shirts for work this week and when i wore my new bright pink one on Monday Caleb said- "You got a new dress Mommy? Yet me see your shirt, oh, you yook goood."  Haha!  Can't be that!

Caleb has become really weary of monsters this week.  He gets very nercous when walking in a dark room or when he is looking outside and it is dark.  I keep reminding him that monsters aren't real, but he still gets pretty freaked.

We finally have found Caleb's "Runaway Pancake" book!  He loves this book!  We listened to the CD in the car at least 10 times since Monday but, when I read the book the other night before bed he freaked out when the Fox ate the Pancake.   AAAAAAAAAAARUM! the fox says when he eats the pancake in one enormous gulp.  Caleb said "No AAAAARUM!"  Then when he went to bed he was very scared the Fox was in his room.
No, No
No, No, No
I'm too fast,
You're too slow.
Pan, Pan, Patty Cake Pan
I can get away from you, I can!
Marsupial Sue Presents- The Runaway Pancake   By: John Lithgow

I highly suggest this book and Marsupial Sue, too!

I am really sad I can't remember more things from Caleb, but when I do, I will write them down!!!!

Teething

Well, Carter is defnitely teething again.  Starting about Sunday he started getting progressively crabbier.  He woke up almost every hour Sunday and Monday night.  Last night he only woke up a couple times and it wasn't nearly as hard to sooth him when he did.  I had been giving him Tylenol, I knew that you could alternate Motrin and Tylenol, so I bought some Motrin at the DG Tuesday morning.  I gave him his first dose of that about lunch time yesterday and it seemed to work really well.  When I called first nurse to find out timing on the doses, she said that our Doctor doesn't recommend mixing, so I stuck with Motrin every 6 hours and it seems like it has been working a lot better than Tylenol.  It looks like he is for sure getting a tooth next to the bottom one's he has already.  When I feel his top gums they are hard and bumpy, so I think he is getting some up there, too.  It looks like he almost has canker sores on his gums.  :O(  Poor baby.  He is drooling like a leaky faucet.  I have to change his bib every few hours!  And he isn't normally a bib wearing outside of his high chair.

More updates on Carter- He is trying to walk more and more!  We went to the play area at the mall Friday night and he was walking like crazy there!  I swear the other day he said Mama, and then lifted his arms and said abab...  Could be a stretch, but who knows!  He loves playing on his own.  He really gets excited when he picks up something from a stand and stands with it.  Carter has been getting quite the funny bone.  He will laugh at just about anything, but it also seems like he has such a good sense of humor.  I think he will be quite the comidian/ornery child like his father and brother.

Last night when I was changing the boys into their jammies I stripped Carter down adn he scurried off, very fast, and was so excited to be crawling around his room naked.  He was up on Caleb's bed and just flopping himself down and giggling.  It was too funny.  Caleb gets all silly when he's naked too...  must be a boy thing.  haha!

That is all for now... Carter wants some attention!

Halloween

Here are some pictures of Caleb and Carter from day care and trick or treating.

Carter as a Skeleton!

He obviously was scared of himself!  HAHA!  Okay, so he didn't like his costume.

Caleb getting his mask painted on.  Chris had to pin him to get him to sit still.  He didn't really like getting this drawn on him.

Mr. Incredible and the Skeleton.  Look at that chunky monkey!  (or should I say chunky skeleton?)

Hehe.  That boy is definitely from his Mommy's side of the family!

Awww.  Brotherly love.

:O) Love them!

11 Months Old!

Carter is 11 months old today!  Happy 11 Month Birthday Carter!

This week so far

This week is already crazy.  Sunday night both my Monday staff called in sick.  One has been out since last Wednesday and will be back tomorrow.  The other will be out until next week.  Then my 3rd staff called in sick for Tuesday and she will be out until next week as well.  ugh! I have no staff!  I really hope that I don't get what they have!

Other than being "short" staffed at work, things aren't too bad at home.  Carter seems to be feeling better.  He doesn't even have a runny nose anymore.  Caleb isn't too ornery.  I have another 1, 2, 3 Magic class tomorrow morning and and early out day at school.  I have a fun Monster Bash planned.  I hope the kids like it.  Then my Thursday night training and Friday!!!  It can't get here soon enough!

We don't really have big plans for the weekend, except for Trick-Or-Treating Saturday night.  I just hope for a relaxing one.

We found a place to have Carter's birthday party!  We are going to have the party at the Ballard Country Club.  They have a nice room in their "basement" that has an adjacent deck, so their should be lots of room for the kids to run and play.  Plus I don't need to cook- they have to provide the food if we serve any!  Double bonus!  Just a couple more weeks!  One month from tomorrow and my baby will be 1 year old!  *sniff*  How has this year gone by so fast???  (Now to talk Chris into #3!  Haha!  We will see....

Carter's Party

We have decided Carter's birthday party is going to be November 21st.  The time will be early afternoon... the place not so sure.  I wanted to reserve the same building we used for Caleb's 1st birthday, but it is already taken for the afternoon.  And evening would be too late.  We have tried looking up a bunch of different places, but haven't found an affordable option yet.  We will keep you updated!

Lots to say, don't know where to start...

Well, I guess I will start at the beginning of the week.  Monday I had a meeting at work, it was our bus trip.  I took my dramamine and did pretty good.  The bus ride was okay... at first it was SUPER hot and she couldn't get the air to work, then when we stopped for lunch the bus wouldn't start again, so we got a new bus and when we were in Marshalltown the bus driver ran almost every red light there was.  We counted 8 in all.  Well, I got to work kinda late, then left really early.  Picked up the kids and went to stand in line at the community center to get the kids their H1N1 shot.  I got there about 3:40- the sign on the door said closed until 4:30.  So thankfully I had a really great spot in line where Caleb could run around in the grass, but I was still fairly close to the front of the line.  After it opened within 20 minutes they had their shots and we were out of there.  Ran home to change and grab a snack, then off to Caleb's soccer game.  He did pretty well- got some good kicks in every once in awhile.

Tuesday I was super tired and didn't do too much.  We went to the library and then came home and hung out.  At work, though, I didn't have time to be tired since it was our Open House.  It went well, not as big of a crowd as I had hoped, but there were people there and things ran smooth, so what else can you ask for?

Wednesday I went to a parenting class called 1, 2, 3 Magic.  Caleb and Carter visited the chidcare area while I was in that class.  They both did pretty well.  The girls told em Caleb was very well behaved.  Carter cried when I left and when I got there, which is to be expected at this age and somewhere new.

Thursday Chris had the day off.  We ended up taking Carter to the doctor since I was up half the night with him.  He kept crying and flopping all over the place...  We could tell he didn't feel well.  So that morning we ran a couple errands, then went to the doctor where we got to sit for 2 hours!  We saw several people in the waiting room with masks on which made us pretty nervous, we sat in the hall.  One lady and her elderly mother walked through and the lady told her mother "Don't breathe, there's sick kids." LOL!  There was "nothing" wrong with Carter after all.  He had a flu test, just in case that came back negative.  He didn't have ear infection, which we suspected in the first place.  Supposedly it was just a virus... we will see I guess.  After the doctor we went to lunch, then I left for work right away.  After work I had to go back to Ames for another parenting class I am taking.  It is called Making Parenting a Pleasure.  It is a 7 week course and covers stress management and anger mangament, then moves on to the discipline.

Today I had my usual morning meeting, then I went to the chiropractor and got my hair cut.  She cut off 5 inches!  Short.  Chris' reaction- "It's short."  Do you like it? "It's different..."  Nice.  I was supposed to have this afternoon off, but I ended up going to site (I was in town anyway) to drop off snack and make a phone call, then ended up going to the library, checking in the kids, and dealing with a "runaway".  I didn't leave there until 4!  So much for a day off...  Caleb and I went on a leaf hunt this evening before supper to burn off some of his pent up energy.  I told him we could go outside and he said, "Let's play football" I told him, no we are going to play cross country and you are going to run and run and run and run and run some more!  He ran about 1 1/2 blocks then decided he would pick up cool leaves instead.

Tomorrow I get to go to another training.  This time for work- it is from 8:30-5:00! Long day.  But, I get to come home to Chris and his friends watching the Hawkeye game- aaah, relaxing... NOT.

Well, that is about it...

Weekend Update

Well, this weeked was here and gone in a blink of an eye.  Chris had Friday off, so I was able to get a little work done that morning since my meeting was cancelled.  Friday night we didn't do much, hung out and watched tv.

Saturday I was up "early" with Carter and got to play with him one on one for awhile before breakfast and before Chris and Caleb woke up.  We cleaned and did laundry most of the morning while Chris watched the Hawkeye game.  I pulled up the carpet in our entryway.  It has the same tile that our kitchen has, so I spent sometime cleaning up that mess.  Then after the game was over and after we ate lunch we went to Ames for groceries and errands.  I made Chris go to KMart and we bought Caleb a new winter coat, he had one, but I didn't like it.  :)  We ended up eating supper at Valentino's then came home with a couple of rowdy kids.  Who didn't go to sleep until almost 9:30!  Late night.

We got up to the sound of our alarm clocks this morning.  We had to meet some lawyer guy in Des Moines to sign closing papers for our house- again...  we refinanced for the 4th time to get a lower interest rate and 30 year loan.  We knocked our interest rate down a whole point, so we felt it was worth it.  After that we went to the Pumpkin Patch in Adel with the boys.  It was pretty fun and cheap!  It cost us a whopping $6 to get in then $1.50 for Caleb and Carter's pumpkins.  After we left there we were all famished, so we went to Olive Garden since we had a gift card.  Then off to home.  I bought Caleb a computer game yesterday- it was Blue's Clues Preschool and Kindergarten for $5!  I taught him how to use a mouse and he LOVED every minute of it!  It kept him entertained for over 1/2 an hour!  He was getting frustrated everyonce in awhile because he can't use the mouse like a pro quite yet, but for his first time he did pretty good.

This week is going to be super crazy!  Monday I have an all day meeting, but it is on a bus and we will be visiting all of our branches offices.  Mental note: don't forget to take dramamine!  After work I will be picking up the boys and heading to soccer.  Caleb invited his former babysitter last night- he "texted" her!  Hehe!  Then after the game we will go stand in line for the H1N1 vaccine... fun fun.  Tuesday is my work's Open House we have been working super hard on this all month!  We have guest readers and skits by the kids planned.  Wednesday I will be attending a parenting class called 1,2,3 Magic, then work as usual.  Thursday morning we have parents as teachers, work, then another parenting class.  This will be the first in 6 on Thursday nights.  Friday I may have to bring the boys to my parents if I have a training in Saturday that will be 8:30-5:00!  Long week.  Hopefully it all goes smooth!

Butt Crack

Butt Crack is now Caleb's new favorite word!  I told him that the only time he is aloud to say it is when we are in the bathroom since it is a "bathroom" word.  So whenever we go in the bathroom for any reason, all you can hear is Caleb yelling butt crack.  The other night Chris was in there with him when he was chanting this word and Chris was trying to get him to stop.  Caleb said, but Mommy said I say it in the bathroom.!!!!  Haha!  And he does.

Ever since Emma stayed with us Caleb has been saying "Throw you in the garbage" from when they wrestled....  He doesn't stop saying that one either, even after we tell him it isn't nice.  I guess I will just try ignoring it.  It is more annoying than anything.  Oh, well...  I guess there could be worse things like the other day when he said "Son of a B****"!  Whoops!  My bad!

It is fun to watch Carter play uninterrupted by a bigger somebody in the house!  He looks so happy!

Yes, he is playing with a melon baller.  He is able to get in the utensil drawer now nad that is his toy of choice!  haha

Caleb got a fire hat at day care the other day. He calls it his Fire Truck hat.

Taking pictures with his camera.  Although the batteries are so dead that he can only review the pictures he has already taken.  :)

"Why it not working?"

Halloween

Halloween is just a short couple weeks away.  My sister gave me a costume fore Carter to wear.  We tried it on him the other night and it was a little snug.  But, before we took it off we had to get a photo opp.
