Time for Air Conditioning!

Spring didn't last long- it feels like we are already in the middle of summer! Our house got up to 83 degrees yesterday. Ugh! We had Caleb running around in just his diaper! He liked it at least.

This weekend we went home for Chris' niece Taylor's birthday party. She is a whopping 7 years old. I can't believe how time flies! It makes me sad to think that Caleb will grow up that fast also. :( sniff. He is 11 months old today. Anyway, Caleb enjoyed watching all of his cousins run around and have fun. They just love "Baby Caleb".

Then on Sunday we spent the majority of the day shopping. We had to run our usual errands of Wal-Mart, Target and Hy-Vee. Plus, Chris took us out to eat. We were able to take advantage of our first ever "Kids Eat Free" day at a restaurant! It was pretty momentous. hehe! It doesn't take much to excite us. (okay, me) When we got home it actually felt cooler outside than in the house, so Caleb and I went for a walk with Nolan and his mommy. Then we watched Chris water our grass. Fun times!

Chris had to go back on the road again today, so he will be gone probably most of the week- weather permitting. Hopefully the weather stays nice so they can get the fields done. It sure would be nice to have our routine back to normal.

Well, more later. I have tomorrow (Tuesday) off because I need to use up my personal days, I also have a dentist appt, they are going to pull my wisdom tooth. Eeek!
So I will include pictures tomorrow.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

It has been raining for the last 2 days and is supposed to rain the rest of the week as well. When I drove home from school today the fields were so full of water it looked like lakes! I am almost wondering if it is going to be like the "Flood of '93". That would stink! Anyway, becuase of all the rain Chris will be home most nights until it dries out enough for him to go back in the field. Hard telling when that will be.

Last night Chris was home and we were playing with Caleb. He is starting to walk more and more! Chris just brings it out in him! He will be going non-stop very soon. I will be glad when he can walk on his own, then when we play outside I don't have to worry about him wearing out the knees in his pants. Or doing a face plant on the concrete from crawling too fast!

Well, no new pictures today.

We love Spring!

Chris went out on the road again today, but this time Caleb and I found some playmates! When we got home tonight our neighbors were outside. They have a little boy Caleb's age. His name's Nolan. So Caleb and Nolan and their mommies went for a walk and played outside for awhile enjoying the great weather! It is so nice to finally have weather that is nice enough to be outside for awhile. Caleb really enjoyed the walk, after we got home we was so wound up he "walked" around with his walking toys doing laps in the living room.

Caleb is getting braver everyday! On April 16th he took a few steps towards Chris (and his paci) on his own. Then on Sunday it seemed like every time we turned around we were seeing the last step and the fall of an attempted walk. It is so exciting seeing him try. He stands there like he knows the next move is very important. He moves one foot forward, catches his balance, then moves the next foot. Usually he can get about 3 good steps in before he falls to his butt, or lunges forward at the thing he was aiming for in the first place. We were lucky enough to catch it on video the first night!

My sleepy boys

Caleb woke up early this morning while I was still in the shower. I went to wake him up and he wasn't in his crib. Low and behold I find my babies fast asleep in bed. How precious!

Such a Flirt

Chris got home from planting today about 3:30 so I told him he had to take me out to supper. We ended up going to Target and getting a couple gifts and then went to Applebees. We sat in a regular booth with Caleb on the end. There was a booth of ladies sitting behind Chris. Caleb, knowing that he is so cute and being such a flirt, looks past Chris leans all the way over to yell "Aaa". Chris and I just shake are heads, but realize he was trying to get the woman's attention. He did this about 4 times in a row with no response so he turns to us with a look that says, "well I guess you will do" and decides he will play with us. Our food comes and an elderly couple come to sit behind Caleb. After Caleb gets a bite of food in his mouth he turns around to look at the couple, smiles and tilts his head. Instant magnet for anybody! She goes on to mention what a flirt he was and so on. We agree and laugh as Caleb then completely turned backwards in his highchair searches for food on the table behind him with just his arm sweeping the table top. He doesn't stop flirting with the old woman for a second to even look where the food is on the table behind him! I tell ya! This kid knows when he is cute! It wouldn't be because I tell him too often would it???!!! hehe :)

Finally Friday!

I am not sure why, but it seems that Fridays are always so much more relaxing. When I get home I don't feel like I have to automatically start in on chores and supper. Caleb and I sat outside, went for a walk, played at the park and visited with neighbors all before supper. It also helps that I don't have Teen Club on Fridays so I get home at 4. That is nice too.

Caleb is finally getting over this week's cold. Yesterday at daycare he too 2-2hour naps! I couldn't believe it. Then, was able to fall asleep by 8:30 and slept the entire night! I was very happy this morning. So was he, when I dropped him off at the babysitters' he was in such a good mood. His ornery streak was back and everything! The first thing he did was take a toy from a 2year old boy. Then, when he noticed the gate was open he zoomed through it and half-way up the stairs. I keep telling everyone that he is going to be the boy that the Kindergarten teachers worry when he starts school! He is definitely all boy and a stinker to all get out! But when they are your own it is not as bad.

Caleb has gotten into a terrible habit of biting the edge of the end table. When we notice him doing it we hit the table, point at him and say-"no" very firmly. Well, when Chris does it Caleb sits down looks very serious then finds a different thing to do. When I do it he looks at me, smiles, gives a little giggle then opens wide and inserts the table into his mouth. Or, he will just give me his "I'm cute and you know it" look where he smiles with all his teeth and tilts his head to the side. This one melts me!

Well, more later time for bed.

Being a Single Mother!

Planting season has officially started. This means that I am officially a single mother. It really stinks. Chris has been preparing for planting for the last 2 weeks- this means that he hasn't been home before 6:30 for that long. It is very difficult not to have the help you are used to having. Before, Chris would drop off nad pick up Caleb from daycare. Now, I have to leave 20 minutes earlier than usualy to drop him off. Then after I get off work at 5pm I pick up Caleb and get homw around 5:45. I stick Claeb in his high chair and throw some food at him while I straighten the kitchen and start supper (which Chris may or may not eat). By the time this is finished it is 7pm. On a good night Caleb is in a good mood and is ready to play. But most nights he is starting to get cranky becuase it is close to bedtime. So we sqeeze in a bath and get ready for bed. By 8pm we have our bottle and we are snuggling on the couch. There goes the night again with barely any quality time. I am looking forward to this summer and especially next Fall. I have been offered a great job and I will explain the greatness of this further in another post- after I have been officially announced in the position. In short, I will have lots more free time with Caleb, but will be making lots more money! Always a plus!

We were having fun today!
Okay, here we are again. Hopefully this one stays working and is better than Baby Blogs. I didn't really like baby blogs because it took so long to download pictures and you could only type if you downloaded a picture. This way I can update on Caleb without always having to have a picture!
