Went to the Dentist!

Caleb had his very first Dentist appointment today. After I got there and started thinking I realized I didn't bring my camera or anything! I feel kinda bad about not making this a more momentous occasion, but oh, well who wants to remember the dentist, right? Anyway, he did pretty good. The hygienists fell in love with him right away. Couldn't be all the flirting could it? He got a new tooth brush. The dentist, Dr. Debbie, was great. She was very in tune to how Caleb would react, very up beat and energetic. I am glad we chose to go to her. She gave us some tips on how to keep his teeth healthy and said his teeth looked great and we were doing everything correct! I love hearing that! :) I had a meeting right after his appointment and I had to feed Caleb lunch so I ended up getting him a Happy Meal! (I am such a horrible mother) He got a plain hamburger, apples, and milk. Not too bad. He ended up eating the ENTIRE hamburger! He was hungry! He did really well with the apples, too. Although I did not give him the caramel, I am better than that! After we ate supper tonight we were sitting outside and our neighbors came over to "play". Caleb and Nolan played in the grass and on Caleb's slide while the mommies sat on the swing and chatted in between pulling sticks and leaves out of the babies mouths! The daddies chatted too. Well, that is about it for our day. I better get back to work. :)

So true!

Happy Birthday!

Today is Caleb's FIRST Birthday!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

We love you!

Long Time!

It has been a really long time since I have updated this puppy! I have been super busy with work and party planning. It seems like all of my free time is spent on the computer working. Busy, busy! I hope that once we get into a groove with summer program that things will calm down a little.

Well, here is what's new. Last week I took Thursday and Friday off to just breath and get work done at home. Friday we got up nice and early, went to Des Moines and picked up my new Honda Odyssey! Yes, we finally splurged and got my dream van! Chris ended up coming home last Friday night after filling up the Durango with $3.30 gas and said we were going to look for a van. So we went to Dodge, Honda and Toyota asking about leasing their vans. Dodge didn't give us a good deal at all and we didn't care for their vans very much because they haven't changed in years, making them look outdated. So we went to Honda and they made us a great deal. Toyota has a very similar van, the Sienna, but they weren't able to even get close to the Honda. So we grabbed that deal right away. A week later I have my new van. I will put up a picture later.

After we went to Des Moines Friday we went home for Jackie's 8th grade graduation, then to her grandma's for a little reception. Then we went to Chris' moms house for a quick visit and it was off to my mom's house. We went to Starr's softball game and then to Coon Rapids Bowling Alley for Kelly's birthday party. Mom watched Caleb for the evening.

Saturday it was off to the races again. It was Chris' birthday so he left to go golfing with the boys while I went shopping for party supplies and Kids Club stuff. When I got home I finished cleaning the house, and making stuff for his party. He had friends over to watch the UFC pay per view. When the boys started arriving I went down to Ankeny to spend time with my cousins wife and their new baby. Dan was at our house. It was fun getting to visit with Janel, but not so fun chasing Caleb everywhere! They house wasn't toddler proofed, which is to be expected, so he was into everything, plants, cupboards, CDs, hitting the tv... ugh, it was not relaxing!

Then Sunday was spent scrap booking! I got Caleb's scrap book caught up from December! Lots of hours and pages were put into that book! Monday we did some shopping. That was about it.

Caleb started at a new day care yesterday. They have this small toddler sized house that has a slide attached to it. Caleb has a blast! He climbed up the slide then nose dives into the house. It is fun to watch him. He seems to like it a bunch.

Well, I better stop typing, I will put pictures on later!

Aaaaaah! Air Conditioning!

Last night we had to turn on the A/C- it was just too warm in our house. Caleb was playing in the kitchen and felt the air blowing out of the vent. We would sit there and let it blow on him. When he would crawl away he would come back to put his face over the vent. It was too funny!

Caleb's First Garage Sales!

Huxley had Garage Sale day on Saturday. Caleb's first experience with garage sales! He did really great getting in and out of his car seat all morning. He crashed toward the end so it was just Chris or I running to check out the sale. Below are a couple of things we got. Caleb's new slide- which is the best $15 I could've spent! I got the mailbox toy for $1 and a Leap Frog basketball hoop (not pictured) for $1 as well.

Such a Big Boy!

This picture was taken in December. The crib mattress was as high as it could go.

This picture was taken shortly after we lowered the mattress to the middle level.

This picture was taken last week. It is still on the middle level. It really shows how much he has grown!

Iowa City

We went to Iowa City today for Caleb's appointment with the Pediatric Urologist. That drive felt like it took forever! Caleb did really well though, he only got fussy about snack time. That hospital is huge! We got right in which was really nice. The man-nurse that had to weigh Caleb and take his blood pressure was great. As the blood pressure cuff was on he distracted Caleb with bubbles. After we got int he room all Caleb wanted to do was run... after a 2 hour car drive he definitely did not want to sit on our laps! The doctor looked at Caleb and told us that his hypospadias is severe enough that he will have to have surgery. They will have to build a new urethra and sew up the other one. Then he will have a catheter in for about 7-10 days. It will take about 2-3 weeks for healing to take place, swelling etc. His surgery is scheduled for Thursday, August 23rd. I want to be able to stay home with him for a couple days.

Anyway, after his appointment we ate at a restaurant called Mondo's. It is an Italian restaurant. It was pretty good, but most likely we will not be going to that place again. Then on the way home we stopped at the Tanger Outlet center. It is a huge outlet mall. We got Caleb some clothes and toys for his birthday.

When we got home we stopped at Wee Care and visited with the owner. It seems like a pretty nice center, it is definitely more in our price range than the other $150/week centers in town! They have an opening for Caleb so after our 2 weeks are up with this babysitter we will be moving to Wee Care. It is going to be handy that it is only 3 blocks away and also nice because Nolan will be there with him next Fall.

Jackie's Confirmation

This weekend we went home for Jackie's confirmation. That is the first time I had to sit through a Lutheran church service. It was a lot different from Presbyterian, that is for sure. Anyway, here are some pictures of Jackie and us.

My New Job!

So here is the low down on my new job. My official title is Ballard Kids Club Site Supervisor. This means I am in charge of the Kids Club, which is during the school year a before and after school program. This summer what I will be doing is running an all day program with K-6th grade. We will have pool outings, field trips, activities, etc. Basically glorified babysitting, with all the perks. :) The best thing about this job, besides that I will finally have full time pay, is that in the Fall when school starts I will work from 6:30-8:30 am and then from 2:30-6:00pm. I will pretty much have all day off to be with Caleb! I will have to work early out days, no school days and will have meetings every once in a while, but totally worth it all! Ballard is the school district I live in so another perk to this job is being able to possibly get my foot in the door with the school. Very awesome. One down side to this though, is that our babysitter will not extend her hours to accommodate my new schedule, so we will have to find new child care. We called a couple places today and if Wee Care here in town has room, most likely we will take Caleb there. They charge an hourly rate, plus Caleb's friend Nolan goes there. So that is what is up with my new job.

Nolan's First Birthday!

Today was Nolan's first birthday so when Caleb and I got home we went over to give Nolan his birthday present. We got him a toy lawn mower. He seemed to really like it. We stayed there for a little bit and visited. When I got home Chris was home from a hard day of NOT working. He got off work at noon and decided to go the golf course. What a stink.

Anyway, we ended up going out with Jason, Mindy and Emma to Happy Joe's. The kids got some bonding time in while the adults had "adult" time. (If you call shooting Skee-Ball and racking up the tickets adult time). We found out Jason was offered a new job, but they will be moving to Omaha within the month. How crappy is that? Caleb's girlfriend will be moving away, he will have his first long-distance relationship! :) hehe~ I know I am a dork.

Tonight when we got back from supper I checked my email and saw that I have been offered the position at YSS I was hoping for. I will be the Site Supervisor for the Ballard Kids' Club! That means I will be working in the same town that Caleb goes to Day Care in! That means I will have a 5 minute commute! More details on job specifics later...

Tomorrow I am going to Des Moines to do some shopping. I am going to go to Nobbies to purchase some birthday supplies and then to Babies R Us to get a much needed new diaper bag. Leslie was planning on being in Des Moines tomorrow also so we are planning on getting together. I haven't been able to see her since before Christmas! Seems like forever! She is pregnant and due in the middle of September, she found out she is having a boy! Yay! Another playmate for Caleb. :) After shopping in Des Moines we have to go home for Jackie's confirmation, makes for a busy weekend!

Well, enough about my "exciting" life! I will write more and put on some pictures Sunday.

Tonight was so nice. I picked up Caleb at the babysitter, he was in such a good mood! We came home and relaxed a little before I fed him- he ate his first cheeseburger! Anyway, after our walk we went across the street to Nolan's house to see what they were up to. Nolan's daddy is busy this time of year too! So we went for a nice long walk and got some mommy social time in. After we got home Chris called and told us he wouldn't be home tonight. Caleb played with the laundry basket, practiced walking and "talked" on the phone with Grammy. Caleb got really giggly for a little bit, so I called my mom to put him on speaker phone. The whole time the phone was ringing he was laughing like crazy, but the second my mom answered the phone he stopped. He got really confused because he wasn't sure where her voice was coming from. It was pretty funny. He crashed pretty quick after that, he started burying his head in the carpet and rubbing his eyes so we got ready for bed. :) That was my night! Joanne, I hope this is interesting enough to fill your days! hehe

My Little Cutie!

Here are some pictures of Caleb. This was the outfit he wore to Taylor's birthday party. I love dressing Caleb in bibs, he looks so cute in them. In the picture below he was sitting in Taylor's new chair. He sat there for almost 20 minutes, he was so comfy! Yes, it was pink, but Chris didn't complain too much about letting him sit in a pink chair! haha!
