Surgery
Carter had his 4 year check up a couple weeks ago. He weighs 39 lbs and is 39 inches tall. He is right on the 75%tile for weight. At his appointment the doctor said his left tube was out of his ear and his right ear looked good. But, he suggested we see the ENT about tube removal in the Spring. So, a week later we visited Dr. Griffith and he suggested we remove the tube and since we just had Kiera we should do it before the year is up. Two days later Carter was at the hospital ready for surgery. He was pretty nervous, especially the couple days ahead. The morning of the surgery he woke up and cried a little, but we talked about what he was scared of and talked it though and he ended up calming down. His surgery was scheduled first thing in the morning, so we had to be at the hospital at 6am. That was early! Unfortunately the entire family got to go along! There was no where to have Caleb go that early in the morning and I had to bring Kiera with. Neither Chris or I would have wanted to not be there. It went well though. Carter came through surgery great. He had a slight tummy ache when he woke up, but I think it was because he was hungry. But, we got to bring home an awesome pink puke bucket just in case. I think carter is looking forward to getting sick again so he can use it. He keeps talking about it and puts his toys in it. "I cleaned up all my books, I put them in my puke bucket!" Haha! Funny kid.

2 months old~ already
can't believe that Kiera is 2 months old already! Everyone is adjusting well to the change. I am still nursing Kiera and am proud to say I haven't had to supplement at all. She is growing perfect staying right on the 50%tile curve. She weighed in at 11 pounds 8.5 ounces at her 2 month checkup. She tends to eat about every 2-3 hours, cluster feeding every hour in the late evenings. She had a bout of colic for a short while in the evenings she would be pretty fussy and inconsolable. But, for the most part she seems to be past that phase now. Her sleeping could be better, but I am not complaining too much. Most nights I can put her down about 11-12 and she will sleep until 430 or so.
For the past month Kiera and I have been spending our time shopping for Christmas and going to what seems like an endless amount of doctor appointments. Normal mornings are spent on the couch feeding and dozing, then we pick up Carter about 12:30. Then Caleb comes home around 3:30.
Someone asked me the other day if having a girl is different. I had to respond that right now it is the same, but I spend a lot more money and time on clothes! Last week was the last week that Kiera was able to fit into her newborn size sleeper. She is fitting very well into her 0-3 month clothes. I love dressing her up everyday! I just hope that she will let me keep dressing her when she is older! :0)

4 years old!
Carter had his 4th birthday a couple weeks ago. On his actual birthday he ended up getting the stomach flu. He came home from daycare and mentioned that he had a tummy ache. I urged him to poop, then he puked. Ugh. He was so sick that he only opened one of his presents that night. We also had to postpone his birthday supper at Texas Roadhouse.
He had a small friends only party at The Playground for Kids in Ankeny the Friday after his birthday. He brought his friends Greyson, Jack, and Silas along to the party. I picked them all up from daycare then after lunch I drove them back. Then the next day we had a family party. Carter had an Angry Birds cake that Grandma Cake made for him.

Funnies
The boys are still cracking me up!
The other night we were trying to decide what to make for supper. Caleb asks us- "do you want it Hard or Fast?" LOL. He obviously meant a hard to cook meal or a fast cook meal. We got quite the chuckle from it.
Carter came home yesterday and looked at Kiera's outfit (below) and asked me if she was wearing her "Farm clothes". :0)

Pictures and 1 month
Keira is already ONE month old!! Where did the time go?! Oh, I know- sitting on the couch while nursing. That is about all I got to do for the last month! :0) Well worth every minute though. She has been growing so much and has just within the last day started to focus on our faces more and even smile every once in awhile! She is starting to become more interactive rather than just a "lump".

This post is going to be pretty random and not go with the pictures, but I wanted to get these on here. Sorry about the sideways pictures, but I don't know how to rotate them. :0)
Keira loves bath time. She doesn't really smile and splash, but she doesn't cry! So, that is an up side!
When Kiera left the hospital she had lost over a pound. The doctor was worried that she wasn't going to be gaining properly so we had to go back to the hospital for a weight recheck the next couple days after being released from the hospital. The first day she didn't gain anything, so we tried one more day to feed her without supplementing and see how whe would do. The next day, she had gained an ounce, so we didn't have to supplement her with formula. Which I was very greatful for, since breasfeeding was actually working, I didn't want to "ruin" it by bottle feeding already. We had her 2 week appointment and Kiera didn't gain a lot of weight. She was 8 lbs, 1.5 oz. The doctor still wasn't sure if she was gaining properly, so we had to go home and feed normally for a couple days and bring her back to see if she gained anything. 2 days later she weighed 8 lbs, 3.5 ounces. (She really likes to be 1/2 ounces...) To be on the safe side the doctor wanted us to come in again for a weight recheck at her 1 month appointment, so just a couple days ago we went and she weighed 9 lbs 6.5 oz! She is gaining! And, I happily say she is gaining without supplementation and is doing a great job of nursing. We did introduce a pacifier to her at about 2-3 weeks, because she is a fairly fussy baby.
A little more about her fussiness- I think she has a little bit of colic in the evening. Either that or I need to nurse her more often in the evening. Chris is getting a little frustrated that everytime he sees her she is either eating, sleeping or crying. I feel bad about this becuase as I am typing right now she is sitting beside me wide awake and perfectly content. She has her fussy moments and mostly they are at night when Chris is home. I hope she grows out of that soon!
Sleeping is going decently. I still have some random nights that I get no sleep, but it has been getting better. Last night I ended up moving her bassinet into her own room, becuase I would here her start to grunt and groan, which are her normal sleep noises and I would wake up thinking she needed to eat. But, she was still sound asleep and I would sit on the couch for an hour waiting for her to wake up enough to eat. So, since she is in her room I won't hear her until she is crying to eat. Hopefully that gives us both more sleep. It seemed to work last night. I put her in her bassinet about 1:40 and I had to get back up to feed her at 4:45. Then returned her to her room at 5:45 and I slept until 9am! She didn't actually wake up to nurse until 9:30. So, I actually feel fairly well rested today.
Here are just some more pictures I wanted to share. :0) I am loving dressing her in pink!
We had family pictures last weekend. I can't wait to get my pictures back so I can post them on here. I am excited to see them!
I am on maternity leave until the end of January. I am very excited to be on leave this long. I am hoping that it reenergizes my enthusiasm for work and doesn't do the opposite. I am already dreading going back. But, after the holidays and all this time off, I may have a change of heart- one way or another...
Halloween
Look at all that candy! :0) The boys had fun trick or treating. They dressed up as Ninja Turtles this year. Caleb was Raphael and couldn't ever remember the name. Carter was Leonardo. Slater had trick or Treating on Tuesday night and Huxley's was on Wednesday. So, the boys had the opportunity to TOT twice! Chris was pretty excited about that. He wanted to get the most use out of these costly costumes as possible. Unfortunately Caleb came home from school and informed us he got in trouble and was on Orange. So, he did not get to go TOT on Tuesday. He was pretty bummed, but I had to stick to the consequence, or he will never learn. Plus, I knew that he would have Wednesday night to go. Carter came home with quite a load of candy from that night. Kiera went TOT, too. We bought her a little sleeper with a witch on it to wear. Of course, it was too chilly for anyone to get to see it, but oh well. She was a little trooper while TOT, not fussing in her carseat/stroller at all.
Hospital pics
Here is a picture of Biggest Brother Caleb with his new little sister. While I was pregnant he was normal Caleb, not really paying much attention to the fact that he would have a baby sister. But, once she came, he has been all over this little girl. He loved her so much and always asks where she is, what she is doing, if he can hold her, etc.
Big Brother Carter with his little sister. Carter was the opposite while I was pregnant. He was always givigng my belly hugs and kisses and talking to the baby. He wanted to learn a lullabye to sing to her. He was all about being a big brother and couldn't wait! When she arrived he was pretty excited, but the excitement has worn off a little and I think he is "feeling" it a little. He has been acting out a little more lately, and I am not sure if it is because he is growing up, or acting out. Either way, he loves her to death, but realizes he is not the baby anymore.

Kiera Marie
Our newest bundle of joy came to stay on Sunday, October 14th. She was 10 days earlier than we expected, but everything we were anxiously waiting for.
When I woke up Sunday morning I was feeling a little crampy, having lower back pains come and go. They gradually started getting a little worse about lunch time and I began to "nest". I didn't realize that was what I was actually doing, I thought I was helping Chris finally clean our bedroom. I packed my bag for the hospital- just in case. Since I wasn't feeling up-to-par and had been sleeping horribly the last couple nights I took a nap that afternoon before we decided to go grocery shopping. I had a couple hard contractions during my nap and had to breathe them out, but they didn't seem any worse than what I would have with Braxton Hicks. So, about 4pm we left for Wal-Mart and Target. While at the stores I had to stop almost everytime I would get a contraction, it would make it so difficult to move. We were on our way home at 6pm when we decided that I am most probably in labor. I called my mom to let her know that it night be tonight that we go in to the hospital. Not sure. When we got home they started to hit hard and long, so we called mom back about 6:30 and told her to hurry and get here. She packed up and started heading our way. Knowing that it was going to be at least an hour before she arrived I called the baby sitter so I could get to the hospital. I had to breathe through a couple contractions and otherwise felt fine. We leaft for the hospital shortly after 7pm. Headed through the ER and on up to the birthing floor. They got us directly into a room where I changed and got hooked up to the monitors. This is about the time that the contractions really took hold and I was unable to breathe them out anymore. So, along with breathing came swearing. A. Lot. Of. Swearing. About 8:10 I asked the nurse how much longer until I get drugs and I am done?!?! She gave me about a half hour quote. About 15 contractions and lots of swearing later- her 30 minutes were up. About 8:50 I was taken into the operating room and given my drugs. Ah, relief! I laid there for a bit just relishing in the fact that I couldn't feel anything. Roughly 20 munites later I was bawling as they held up my screaming vernix-covered fat little baby girl. I peek over to look at Chris sitting on the floor and we smile at each other. She was finally here. They took her out of the room and Chris went with her while I laid there getting worked on and sewn back up. They took awhile to bring her back to the OR and I began to get worried, but everything was fine. Her APGAR scores were 8 and 9. Almost perfect.
After being sewn up and unplugged from the drugs I was wheeled to the recovery room with my very itchy nose and face. I laid there for a bit while I got my vitals taken and covered with warm blankets- despite my protests that I was hot/sweaty. Kiera and Chris came in and after a little bit I was able to hold my daughter for the first time. We unwrapped her and laid her on my chest, she immediately began rooting for the breast, her little tongue lizard-like. She found the breast right away away and began suckling- success!
We headed to our new room and settled in for the night.
More about the rest of our stay and the following week to come.

Holy Swollen Feet!
Wowsers, in just the past week my feet have begun to swell like crazy! My ankle is thicker than the widest part of my foot!
Baby news is the same right now. I had another appointment this morning and everything looks good. After my appointment I went to my weekly meeting at work and was nicely surprised with a baby shower from my co-workers. It was very thoughtful of them.
Chris and I attending Breastfeeding class tonight. I went to this same class while pregnant with Caleb, but skipped it with Carter. I am so glad I went back this time. I cannot believe the differences in the little things there were. From pacis to bottles and when to introduce the breast and bottle. Crazy! Caleb had 4 ounces of formula while I was in the recovery room after my c-section! That is simply unheard of now. With Carter I thought that the pacifier the hospital gave out was better for breastfeeding babies- nope. It is the one I always wanted to push- if they even give you a paci anymore. Our hospital has definitely done its' homework and is pushing breastfeeding solely. I am very happy with this. Hopefully the third times the charm!

Going Early?
At my doctor's appointment ON my birthday when I was hooked up to the monitors I was having quite a few contractions and the doctor felt that was too many. So, after my appointment she sent me over to the hospital to get a shot. As I walked over there I called Chris very calmly to let him know I was just going to get a shot, everything is fine though, etc. I went up to the 4th floor, checked in and they showed me to my room. Everything was fine until she mentioned that I would need to get into the gown and into bed. Okay.... Then the nurse said, you are in room 468 in case you wanted to have anyone join you. The second she walked out of the room I was borderline hysterical, I realized this was more than just getting a quick shot. So, thankfully Chris was actually at the office instead of on the road and he was able to join me a few minutes later. The shot they gave me was Tribulitane (spelling) and it made me feel horrible. I was super shaky and felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. Well, that didn't help, so I had to get another one. I also had to have a quick internal ultrasound- not fun. So, 6 hours later I was released with a perscrisption for procardia (spelling) a medicine I had to take every 6 hours. Once I hit 36 weeks the medicine is no longer needed. In the meantime I also received 2 steroid shots just in case she decided to make an early appearance. This way her lungs would be a little more developed. Lately I have been feeling quite a few contractions still, they are starting to get a little harder and lower. I also feel her hitting my cervix sometimes which about makes me want to cry.
At my doctor appointment on Thursday I had a growth ultrasound so the tech was able to tell me how much she weighed... 7lbs 1oz! She gained so much. She is now in the 68th %tile. I just hope that it isn't my gest. diabetes that is making her grow so fast. But, we got a few more pictures that are really good, I wish there was a way to scan them to put them on here. I had another appointment yesterday and was checked, I am a loose 1 cm, and am 50% effaced. The doctor basically said that I could go anytime. We obviously won't stop anything, but there is no guess as to when I will go.
As different as this entire pregnancy has been it wouldn't surprise me one bit if I go earlier than expected, although I really don't want to. I like knowing what is going on and when things will happen. I also have a pedi planned the day before and it is very much needed!! :0)
Well, as of right now I have 2 weeks and 1 day left. There isn't much left for work to do before she arrives, but enough. 2 months of lessons to write... Around the house, it is just cleaning. I need to deep clean the bathroom and the kitchen mainly. But, everything else is basically ready.
Carter and Caleb have 1 week of soccer left, and Caleb has 2 Saturdays of football left. His team is the only team that doesn't have to play on the 27th! What luck!!

Updates
Here are some more updates on the boys. Summer ended somewhat abruptly. I was looking forward to it being over because of work, but it was a sudden shock when we couldn't do our Tuesday Fun Days anymore.
Caleb started the First Grade this year. His teacher's name is Miss Becker. She is a newer teacher, but so far she is doing pretty well. I was worried she wouldn't be able to handle Caleb's "crazies". He is in a class with two boys from Kindergarten that he really likes- Jake and Chance. The school year is going well so far he is really doing well in Math learning addition and subtraction. Each week he writes in a journal that comes home for us to write back to him. He also has a great reading system each month that he tries to read as many minutes as he can, getting a bead for a necklace at school after every 100 minutes. It is really motivating him to read everyday (when we can). He is becoming pretty good at reading. He chooses hard books sometimes and to hear him try to read them is quite humerous as he just skims by the hard words, which makes you wonder how he even knows what is going on in the story. It is pretty fun to hear him read everything, or at least try.
Carter was pretty excited for summer to end. When Caleb started school Carter wanted nothing but to go to school as well. He was pretty excited to see all of his friends. He still only goes to school in the afternoons and when I work all day. But, he loves that time with his friends. He has a buddy named Jack that he especially gets along with. They had a couple playdates over the summer even. Jack is pretty crazy and when the two of them get together they are a ball of energy! Carter has several good buddies in his class Greyson and Silas are 2 of them. Carter gets a little preschool in each week when he attends daycare all day and I can really tell through him wanting to write, or noticing letters and numbers.
Both boys are in sports this Fall which is keeping this tired pregnant mommy on her toes! Here is our weekly schedule. Now remember, I am supposed to be working until 6pm each of these nights and Chris is gone in the field.
Mondays- 5:45 Soccer Carter game, Caleb practice
Tuesdays- 5:45 Caleb soccer game
Wednesdays- Supposed to have Carter's soccer practice- choose to skip.
Thursdays- 6:00 Caleb Football practice
Fridays- Crash!
Saturdays- Caleb football in the morning.
Getting supper on the table and not losing my mind each of the nights with soccer and football has been a chore. Especially with Chris being in the field.
Harvest started about 3 weeks ago. Very early this year due to the early Spring planting. Chris actually just finished their last field Friday night! Pretty darn impressive finishing before October, especially considering the year I was pregnant with Carter we were hoping he would be done before Carter was born- November 28th!
Update- baby contractions later...

Horrible Blogger
I have become such a horrible blogger! Sorry to everyone who actually attempts to read this. And to my children when they have no memories recorded!!
Here are a couple current funnies from the boys.
We were watching Planet 51 the other night and Chris mentioned that one of the characters sounded like Barack Obama. I am not sure exactly how the conversation went to get to this point, but Caleb eventually impersonated Barack Obama, because he "knows what he sounds like". In a very deep 6 year old voice all I hear is "I am Barack Obama and I approve this message". LOL!
I was bathing a VERY filthy Carter the other night and had to scrib pretty hard on his legs since they were covered in black gunk from the tire chips at daycare. He was whining saying it hurt his owies when I told him if he would stay off his knees they wouldn't have owies. To which he responds "then how am I going to play 'Puppies?!'"
Baby update: I am currently having bi-weekly appointments with an ultrasound at each appointment. Once a month the ultrasound is a growth u/s, but the rest are pretty fast and just measure the fluid. On September 17th she weighed 5lbs 4 oz. she is in the 48%tile. She is doing great and we have gotten some neat 2D pictures of her face. We decided to paint the nursery so it is now a lighter purple on top and dark purple on the bottom. Goes well with the pink carpet! I spent most of the day last weekend finishing up the organizing of her room. So, we have drawers with clean clothes, a set of drawers with diapers, bibs, burp rags, etc all set up. Her crib is ready to go and even the recliner that I will use for nursing is set up with a side "table". I want to make her name on the wall in a "pinteresting" way, but that would mean we would have to decide on a name. :0) We have the names settled to about 3 names- one sticking out more than others, but the middle name has us stumped with 4 options. Jeez. We are set to have the c-section on Wednesday, October 24th. 3 1/2 weeks left! I have quite a bit of work to accomplish within those 3 weeks to be ready for maternity leave, but it will get done some way or another.
The boys went to Big Brother class a couple weeks ago. Carter LOVED every second of it. He is so exctied to have this baby some live with us. He always says he is going to rock the baby to sleep and to sing to her and feed her, etc. He is already so caring and thinks about her all the time. Caleb is excited, too. But doesn't show it as much. I wonder if he thinks it isn't "cool" to be excited. But, his teacher said he mentioned it the other day at school to the class when they were writing about him in their friend journal and he was pretty excited about it.
Here are some things I need to cover the next time I blog:
Sports
School
Doctor appointments- caleb and baby

Relief!
The temperature has finally become bearable! Well, at least for a couple days. Last night I was actually able to go on a walk. Carter and I chose to go on our own so Caleb and Daddy could play catch in the yard. We had a great little chat while on our walk. Carter's sense of caring and loving never ceases to amaze me. He brought up the baby and going on walks with the baby. I asked him if he was going to be a big helper when the baby was born and he said that he would help feed the baby and hold her "gentle", and rock her to sleep. I asked if he was going to change diapers and he said "No, that's gross." LOL.
With the bearable temperatures also came another chance to be outside. So we decided to go fishing! We went to Ada Hayden in Ames and caught a few baby blue gill. The water there is very clear and where we were fishing you could see about 10 little blue gill snatching the worm off your hook. It was pretty fun. I think I had more fun watching them polish the hook clean than anything. :0) Everyone was able to catch at least 1 fish. The boys had a little trouble staying calm and quiet at first, but eventually got the hand of it. Caleb still had to move to a new spot every minute or two.
PS- we are getting a little rain today too! So nice!

Summer Activities
This summer we signed up for free bowling for the kids. We have taken the boys several times this summer and it has been pretty fun. The boys are getting really good at it! They use the bumpers, but even with them they are scoring 90-100. Better than my 65 the other day! lol
We also purchased a family pool pass, so we have been trying to go to the pool as often as possible. Caleb is getting pretty comfortable with the water. He dunks and swims, but still cannot go into the deep end as his floating/treading capabilities are limited. Carter on the other hand is a little skittish of the water. He does not like to dunk his head, which I think is due to having his tubes. He gets a little braver some days when he jumps in, but he is so nervous about his ears that he won't attempt much. We bought him ear plugs, so hopefully those will help.
Caleb had swim lessons that last 2 weeks. The majority of the first week he was in Level 1 and when I watched him at lessons I realized he was not at level 1 abilities. So, we tested out and he was entered into Level 2. Unforetunately since we switched him so late in lessons he didn't pass Level 2 since he didn't get the practice everyone else did. But, we know what to work on for next year and he will pass Level 2 next year.

Drought
I want to use this blog not only as a thing to record my fleeting attempts at motherhood, but also to remember somewhat major events. It hasn't effected us too much, but this year has been the driest year since 1988. Seems like one of the hottest as well. We have had almost 100 degree days for just about a month! Which really puts a damper on outside play and going on walks. The kids (even work kids) are so ready to just run and play outside. Hopefully it breaks soon and we get some relief!

Swap Shop
I had a garage sale in May and sold maybe half of what I wanted to. So I put the rest on a Facebook swap page and Craigslist. It all sold like hot cakes! :0) I made quite a decent chunk of change that I dedicated for baby stuff. I have been searching on those same sites for baby clothes and other items. I have a decent base of clothes already purchased for NB- 6 months already which I spent about $100 total on. I bought a purple Bumbo chair for $10 (saving $20). I purchased a Rock n' Play (which is like a chair/bassinet) for $30 (saving $25/30), a Bumbo tray for $5 (saving $5), a car seat cover for $7 (saving at least $13) and the ceeuutest little penguin stocking cap for 50 cents. :0) I feel pretty good about my purchases since they are things I actually really needed and got pretty good deals on. I think I am done shopping now for awhile. Before the baby is born we will need to purchase a travel system (stroller/car seat), then I want to get a space-saver high chair for the dining room chair which won't need to be purchased right away though. But, that is about it.
Baby preparations are underway. We are trying to get the basement guest room cleared out so we can move the boys down there before school starts. That is my goal anyway, hopefully I can accomplish that. We really need to get rid of our ginormous weight machine and I am debating on whether to get rid of the full-size bed or keep it somewhere (where, I don't know- we have no room for it.) The baby's room won't be too difficult to prepare once the boys are out. I will have to move furniture and put up a new border. I don't think I am going to paint though we will just leave it the colors the room is now. I want to completely redo the boys' room downstairs, but Chris said we will be waiting. The drywall and paneling needs to be replaced and/or painted but, I suppose that can wait. :0) I am very excited for school to start so my schedule gets back to a little less hectic, then I can focus on organizing all the baby stuff and selling the boys' old clothes.
In a couple months the boys will be enrolled in a 'Big Brother' class. Carter is super stoked, but Caleb is a little indifferent- "Why do I need to go to that?" lol. I am going to skip the lamaze class this time again, but I think I am going to take the breastfeeding class so that hopefully third time will be a charm and I will be able to successfully breastfeed this time. Fingers crossed.
That is about all the updates I have at the moment. Next post I will try to remember to post about swim lessons and other summer stuff.

It's A Girl!!
In the back of my head I always hoped/guessed that this baby was a girl. This pregnancy has been so different with nausea and zero energy. That I just assumed. But, of course I couldn't really beleive it for sure until we saw it in the ultrasound. The night before the ultrasound was the worst. All night I felt like I would dream or lay there awake thinking about what we would find out. I had to remind myself that even if it is a boy that it wouldn't make a difference in the least and we would love him just the same. Then the next thought would be of telling everyone it was a girl.
The ultrasound went well and she looks great. It was a little challenging to get her to cooperate to find out if she was a she, which made me want to scream! But, the tech we had is great and she made sure she was positive before telling us.

Okay, just so I will have something updated on here I will get to my list of things to write about and then I will probably make a new one! :0)
First: How I announced our pregnancy. We ended up going home for Easter weekend. We brought our new car along to Chris' mom's house and while she was looking at it we mentioned we bought the Traverse since it has 2 bucket seats in the middle and a roomie 3rd row seat. That way it will make it easier for Caleb to get to the back when the baby comes. That is how we left it. She caught on super quick and was very excited. We told the rest of Chris' family by putting parts of "You are going to be a cousin again in October" in easter eggs. They had to put the sentence together with their parents. Of course the oder kids got it a lot quicker, but it was still fun. When we went to my parent's house we put a new t-shirt on Carter saying Big Bro. He was pretty upset that we took off his Hawkeye shirt to make him wear that one and I tried to explain to him that he had to wear it and he had to keep it a secret. We got to mom and dad's and Carter barely makes it in the door before he comes up to dad and tells him "Look at my shirt!" and in a sing-song voice says "I am going to be a Big Brother!" LOL. Mom and Dad were pretty excited. When Michelle arrivea few minutes later, this time it was dad who couldn't wait to show off Carter's shirt!
Next: Peanuts.
The other day Caleb and I were driving home from his eye appointment and he was asking if the baby was a boy or a girl. I told him that the doctor would have to take pictures of the baby when s/he is a little bigger and then they will tell us. I asked him if he knew how we could tell if it was a boy or a girl in the pictures. His initial thought was that girls would have more hair. So, I brought up that boys have a penis and girls don't. So, if they see a penis in the picture it is a boy. He thought about this a moment and then asked basically what a penis was since we normally call it a weinie. :0) Well, needless to say I cam straight home and told Chris the funny story. Carter must have listened in on the story, because later that night Caleb and him were laying on the couch with their head on opposite ends and Carter says "Oh, my Peanuts!" Caleb's foot must have hit Carter's weinie! LOL... Well, we now have peanuts in our house instead of penises.
Another Peanuts related story. Carter often goes commando. Not sure why. But, more often than not he isn't wearing underwear. The other day while he was playing outside he announces that his peanuts are falling out. After laughing for quite awhile I mention to him that if he wore underwear his peanuts would stay in place.
Living room: We remodeled the living room. I thought this would be a simple process. We needed to scrape the popcorn texture off the walls, which we hired someone to do. That required picking out paint and actually painting. We also redid the trim, which takes us down into the entry way. Then, the railing had to be redone. New carpet. New furniture. New closet door. Etc. Etc. Etc. This project was started mid- March and is now officially complete as of a week ago! But, we are loving it. I just need to find some wall decorations and actually get them hung!
Busy Work Season: On top of having almost no energy or motivation (it is getting better) I have a ton of work to do. Since it was the end of the school year/ beginning of the summer it means double the work load. Which also leads to more meetings and trainings and no extra time to do the work that starting summer involves. I am still up to my ears with work, but I am taking next week off from work so I can get a breather.
Sports: Carter played soccer this Spring. It seemed he was really going to be a go-getter, but then when games actually started he didn't have the aggressiveness other kids seemed to have. He did well, he went out on the field and had fun, but no goals were scored by Carter. He just started Bam Bam and is really loving that. I think we will put him in t-ball next year.
Caleb just played t-ball this Spring. His season overlapse soccer, and I don't want to double him up on sports. It is too difficult to get him to practices and games on weeknights. He is loving t-ball. He is one of the older boys on his team. He hits really well getting quite a reaction from the other parents even. He is a "bit" of a ball hog. Unfortunatly this is one area we HAVE to work on. There will be physical struggles over the ball sometimes. He is working on his aim throwing and is getting pretty good at catching, too. Once we get the ball-hog thing under control I am sure he will be quite the little ball player.
Well, I have completed the list. As of right now I am not even sure what else to write about.
We are going on vacation this week, so I will update that soon.
So here is my next list.

Better Start Updating.
Well I figure I am never going to have enough time to actual update this thing to recent time, but I can at least start somewhere! :0) So here goes.
Ummm, I think most important thing going on is that we are expecting baby #3, so I will go through that story for now.
We have been trying for baby #3 for almost a year. In February I thought that I might be pregnant since my period didn't start at the exact moment it was supposed to. Which was 8am on Febraury 15th. I took a test that morning and it was negative. I was very bummed, but still stlightly hopeful since I still hadn't started. But, at 8pm that night I started my period. It was very light, but it was there. A couple weeks later I had a playdate with my friend who was very pregnant with her third child and she said that with her daughter she had the same thing happen and thought that it was possibly implantation bleeding. I kind of let it out of mind, because I didn't want to get my hopes up. But, then at the very beginning of March I had a little more bleeding (which is very out of sync). So, I decided to take another test, just in case it was implantation bleeding, it was positive!. Considering March 2nd was supposed to be the day I ovulated I was confused as to how my test was positive so early. I definitely felt pregnant, though. I was pretty much laid up in bed for 2 weeks tired and sick as hell. I called the doctors office and she said that after I had a true missed period to call back. I took another test a bout a week later and it was positive, too.
Well, I waited until my first scheduled appointment which was April 12th to visit the doctor and mentioned my confusion as to when my last period was and was scheduled for an ultrasound. So the following Tuesday I went in and had an ultrasound and found out that my due date is October 28th. A month earlier than I thought, since I was prenant when I had my first negative pregnancy test. Makes the first trimester go a lot faster! The following Thursday I had another ultrasound for the down syndrome screening, then the Thursday after that I had my actual appointment with the doctor. I have also already had my glucose test and have to go back for my 3 hour test. Boo. So needless to say, I have been in that office WAY too many times within the last 3 weeks.
This pregnancy so far has been very different from my first 2. I feel like shit. Nauseous most of the day and absolutely exhausted all the time. It is slowly getting better each day, but I still have bad days where all I want to do is sleep. I am already showing quite a bit for only being a little over 14 weeks along. But, I think that is contributed to the weight I have gained! Which is an obscene amount in such a short time!!
Anyway, I think that about covers that. I will update with more later. :0)

Holy Busy-ness!
The last few weeks have been ridiculously crazy! The school has had early out and no school days for conferences and Spring Break back to back. Ugh. So, more on site time for me.
Anyway, besides work it has also been crazy at home as well. We decided to redecorate our living room, so we chose to scrape the nasty texture off our walls. That meant hiring a contractor since it is such a big job, we had to move out of our living room for a few days. Which is really quite a pain. We then had to pick out paint colors, which is also really quite a pain. We primed and painted in a weekend, so then we were allowed to "move" back into the living room, which meant getting our tv out of our bedroom and the couch out of the kitchen. Thank goodness! All of this running actually started before we hired the contractors by picking out furniture. That was quite the ordeal. Anyway, Chris installed the new ceiling fan and a new chandelier in the entry way last weekend. We have to build our new railing which Chris is working on, but it still requires several trips to Menards and Lowes. (Too Many!) So, now we are just waiting to get the carpet installed and the furniture delivered. We still have quite a bit left to do, but hopefully it will be done soon.
On a positive note, we have been having extremely great weather! The boys have been loving playing outside an not wearing coats! We have been able to have the windows open everyday and I have even been able to enjoy an outside run. I only hope this weather is here to stay, but I am sure since it is Iowa we will be back to cold and snow very soon.
Since the weather was so nice I was forced to go through the boys' summer clothes. Carter is pretty set for summer clothes (thanks Shelle for the sack of brand-new 3T's)... But, "poor" Caleb will have to go shopping for some shorts and sleeve-less shirts.
This whole living room renovation has also forced me to clean the toys downstairs so we could move one of the couches downstairs. I was able to have the boys help me for the first round of cleaning to see what they wanted to get rid of and what they wanted to keep. The sorting didn't really surprise me much. Caleb has never really been a "toy" type of kid, so it was pretty expected that everything I asked if they wanted to keep or sell he would say 'Sell!' Carter on the other hand is pretty pack-rattish like his Mommy. He didn't want to part with anything and would instantly start playing with anything I pulled out. So, although it goes against Carter's wishes I took it upon my better judgement to sell quite a bit of their things. Of course, they are not sold yet, but I did take pictures today and it is all sorted and ready to go for that eager buyer from Craiglist (when Chris finally posts it!) :0) Let me know if you need any toys!

First Thin Mint Experience
Chris was gifted a box of Thin Mints from his little sister when we returned home from Hawaii and he was nice enough to share a cookie with each of us! How gracious! LOL... Carter popped his cookie in his mouth and after a moment of chewing simply stated "Tastes like toothpaste". :0)
