We got up around 6:30 and got ready to leave after Chris and I took turns eating breakfast (we didn't want to eat in front of Caleb, because he wasn't allowed to eat) we got on the road about 8:00 to head to the hospital. We checked in and were waiting for on;y about 10 minutes and they called us back. We talked to a couple nurses and the anesthesiologist (I spelled that right on the first try!) then changed him into his gown.

Caleb played in the little toy room, throwing everything and climbing everywhere. Then the doctor came to talk to us and get Caleb. I walked him into the operating room and held him on my lap while they put the gas mask on his face. They said that if he cried that is better. After a couple minutes he finally was out and I laid him on the table. By then I was bawling! I knew it would be difficult for me to leave, but I didn't think it would be that hard. :( *sniff
After about 2 1/2 hours a nurse came and got us. He was in recovery and was waking up from the anesthesia. They came and got us and when we saw him he was sitting with a nurse drinking juice. I took him on my la and he sat there in a daze. We went back to our own little recovery room where he ate a couple crackers and drank more juice. He was doing pretty good, not crying, just dazed. He really woke up a little later and was ready to run! Once the nurses went over all of his instructions, made sure he was fine and could stand we loaded up and were wheeled out of the hospital. The nurse that wheeled us out was talking to us and said "oh, he's the kid that didn't cry!" I guess when the babies wake up from anesthesia, they are confused and not sure where they are, and want mom and dad. I guess all Caleb did was push against the crib like he wanted out!

When we got home Caleb was running like crazy, he never stopped all weekend! You couldn't tell he even had surgery. He was only taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen. On Sunday we took off the bandage. It was pretty graphic. But even last night it looked better. He will have a catheter in until next Tuesday when we go back to Iowa City to get it removed. That will be nice, no more double diapers and he can go back to Day Care. Well that is all the news right now.
