It has been crazy busy here the last few weeks. With Chris on the road planting and me gearing up for summer at work, it has been non-stop go, go, go. I am ready for some down time!
But, in the meantime since Chris is done planting and he is slow at work he decided to start tackling our bathroom remodel. Yay! :0) On Sunday he started demo, on Monday he finished demo, my bathroom is completely down to the studs. We decided to take out the drywall since it had mold in some places and paint drips, and other lumps and bumps everywhere else. Yesterday Chris was able to get the plumbing done for the shower, it took him longer than expected since he didn't have a helper to hold things. And today, Chris has to be at work, so hopefully Thursday we will get drywall hung.
While Chris has been busy in the bathroom I have been busy with the kids and work! Monday morning Caleb adn I left for Des Moines right away to get the oil changed in the van and get his 5 year old pictures taken!! His pictures turned out pretty good, he did a very nice job listening and smiling. After pictures I took Caleb out for a very special mommy date- he chose McDonald's with the playplace. ugh. Then, with a little bribe, he allowed me to stop at Kohl's on the way home! :0) Tuesday I had summer training all day and today I will have training again all day. Then at night after I put the kids to bed and help Chris with whatever he need in the bathroom I am on the computer writing lesson plans and getting things ready for summer.
Then, in the midst of all of this I still need to plan a birthday party for Caleb! Which I just realized I haven't passed out invitations for yet, okay, I haven't even BOUGHT invitations for yet. Poor kid. He got a crap-deal having his birthday at my busiest time of year.
Sylvia's birthday crept up on me this year too, and though we're going to Sesame Place, which we all love, I still haven't bought presents. I was going to have a party, but ran out of time, energy and money. So she's getting homemade cupcakes with a handful of gifts and two of our couple friends and their one kid each.
ReplyDeleteWill our kids resent us one day for being too busy to make time for their birthdays???
I am hoping once they can actually remember I can make time!! Or, they can help more with the party process!! :0)
ReplyDeleteKate and Joanne, do you remember what you did at your 5th birthday party? Neither do I, so don't sweat it, girls! I've had plenty of small, family birthday parties and I survived, and my mom didn't work when I was young! We all have a lot of pressure to accomplish a lot of things before we can even lay our heads down at night. You're both great mothers and wives and are doing a great job keeping everyone happy. Now, relax and enjoy the ride. ;)
ReplyDeletelol, I actually do remember my 5th birthday!! I had a small handful of friends in the trailer. We had glowing necklaces and mom hid my presents to make it a game for me to find them! I remember the brown recliner having a present in the pouch on the side. :0) But, thank you for the nice words. We are going to try to invite some of Caleb's friends... I just wish I was more organized!!
