Funeral

Chris' aunt Elaine passed away Friday, so we left Monday afternoon for home.  After Chris got off work we packed up and went straight to my parents house.  We dropped off the kids, changed quick and headed to the prayer service.  Chris' mom is pretty emotional about losing her sister, who wouldn't be, so we decided to all go back to Jeff's house and enjoy some conversation and cocktails.  After about, oh I don't know 6 margaritas, I was feeling pretty good.  Chris' mom seemed to be in better spirits laughing at all of us.  Chris was pretty tipsy himself, too.  We eventually ran out of pop, so Chris and our two neices rode bikes up to Casey's to buy more pop.  Riding bikes for a mission then turned into bike races on the street at 11:00 at night.  It was a pretty crazy and fun night.  I was feeling it about 4am, though.  :0(

The funeral was Tuesday morning.  Everyone seemed in pretty decent shape considering...  We decided to keep Caleb and Carter at my parents house during the prayer service and fineral.  I think if they would have know Elaine better I would have brought them, but since they didn't really know who she was I didn't feel like trying to keep them entertained at these functions.  I was up front with Caleb though about where we were going and why.  I am trying really hard to be honest with him about death, but not in a scary way.  When my Grandpa died a couple years ago I explained to Caleb that when people grow old eventually their bodies stop working.  I also explained that a funeral is a way to celebrate that person and to remember all the great things that person did.  I think he "gets it", but I am not entirely sure at this young of an age that he will totally get it.  But, that is okay...  I don't need him to get any other lessons anytime soon.
